Getting in the mood for Christmas

Hohoho! It's almost Christmas! What will you be doing this time next week? We will be hopefully swapping Christmas presents in Tom's mum's front room all in pyjamas! I love spending Christmas at her place and this year it will be even more fun because my mum is coming! I am planning to take her to this and this and this...
Wherever you will be we wish you a wonderful Christmas...

I wish I could dance like Vera-Ellen. Make my wish come true... please?

This made me smile and funnily enough it got me in the holiday mood!

Happy Merry Christmas everyone!
  Lots of love,

Women in their 30s

Hey people! It's only 3 weeks until Christmas! What are your plans for the Christmas break? My mum is coming over to London from Japan for Christmas (Yesss!) and I can't wait to spend some time with her and Tom's family all together. It would be a fun Christmas!

Do you remember last Christmas? London was covered in snow! Oh, I loved it!

While I can't believe this year is nearly ending, 2011 has been a good year but has had its ups and downs too. It's been 2 years since we got married, we bought a flat, Tom started his Masters at university, work has been really busy etc. I am now 32 and feel that I am reaching to the point in my life where my priorities are changing.

The other day, I met up one of my lovely ex-colleagues for the first time in a long time who is now enjoying her new career as a life coach. She recently gave up her 9 to 5 job and decided to pursue her passion to help women who are facing some difficulties/struggles in their lives. It was great to see her doing what she really enjoys doing and it was really inspiring!

Do you have a dream job that is always in your mind? I've always wanted to do something creative for a living but I just never had the confidence to give it a go. I like my job now but I do admire people who are following their passion for a dream job!

She is now offering a free 40 min life coaching session if you participate this survey (until 15th December)!

Have a great week everyone! (We are getting a Christmas tree next weekend! Can't wait!)

Foggy Morning

Hey people, what a foggy day we are having today! I got so excited when I drew the curtains in the morning and saw the misty world out there! I dragged Tom out of the bed (quite literally!) and we went out for a morning walk in the park. We enjoyed walking through such an atmospheric park which looked totally different from how it usually looks. (I felt like being in a film. No joke!)

I am going to do some sewing for Christmas later on today which is one my favourite ways of spending a sunday afternoon! In the meantime here is some random stuff that made me happy this week. Hope it does it to you too!

I so want this ring. (I am not dropping Tom a hint for a Christmas present. No way.)

Back to the future! Just have a look, it's amazing!

Beautiful Paris. (sigh..)

One day I'd like to live in a house like this (with the dreamy white floor!)

How cute is this!

Watch out for the Japanese cat! Meow.

I'd throw a party just to get to wear this!

Have a great week everyone!  G x

Before and After: Bathroom!

Hey friends, Genki? Hope you've had a lovely autumny weekend! I was feeling a bit stressed having been busy at work this week but I felt so much better and refreshed walking in the sunny park this afternoon. The trees beautifully changing colours, the crisp autumn air, kids laughing and running around and the sensation of stepping on the dry leaves on the grass. I love autumn! (What's your favourite season?)

When we first moved into our flat, there were two things that came into our minds. "Doing up the kitchen and bathroom." They are not too bad but a bit outdated and not exactly pretty. After talking to our friends in search of a handyman who could do it cheap, and looking at hundreds of bathtubs and toilets and tiles on the internet, we got a new bathroom! Although we tried to lower the cost as much but it was still a lot of money for us (we will just have to live on soup and bread for a while!). It looks like our kitchen will stay the same for now but I am glad we got the bathroom done!

Etching print I did a while ago on a piece of reclaimed wood from Gathering Moss

MUJI never disappoints me. Neat shampoo bottles! Love it.

A little Chinese dog from a lovely shop Rouge
(Maybe it's a fox. Or a rat? or some Chinese animal that I've never seen.)

I love our new black and white floor tiles! Whoo!

Have a great week people!  G x

Hello people, did you go and see the firework displays last night? We stayed in (we both had a long week at work this week..) but enjoyed peeping out the windows for some beautiful fireworks in the neighbourhood. By the way, where did October go? Can you believe it's 7 weeks until Christmas! Hope everyone is having a great autumn before it gets really wintery!

Me and Tom went to Morocco a couple of weeks ago and I would like to share some of the pictures here! I'd never been to Morocco before and frankly didn't really know much about the country. As soon as we stepped out of the airport I was blown away! It was motorbikes, donkeys, colourful mosaic tiles, kids on bicycles, dryness, ladies in beautiful dresses and head scarves, rocky mountains and the sun burning on your skin. What an exotic and amazing country!

We were absolutely stunned by the beauty of the Sahara desert. Sitting on a sand dune looking at the sun set, my worries and problems suddenly seemed so small and pointless. Ahhh, I love being on holiday and discovering the world! (I still have a lot to see though!)

P.S. After feeling blessed and overwhelmed, we got lost in a sand storm in the middle of the desert. Yes, that's correct - we got lost. Click here for the full story written by Tom!

Before and After - Living room

Hey folks! Hope you are having a great and sunny weekend. I was so happy to wake up to the sunny morning today and I've been feeling very energetic all this morning! How about you? What's your plan for the rest of the day? Whatever you do hope it will be a great one!

So, I have been a bit away from blogging lately. I was very busy/poorly/studying (Try! Did you pass?) /shopping (only 5 mins from our flat! Someone needs to lock me up otherwise I will be there every weekend!). Meanwhile our newly bought flat is slowly making a progress and things are coming along. Yesterday we spend our afternoon putting wallpaper up in our living room (finally!)  Here is the before or after of our new living room!

We literally got covered in paste (I got some paste on my hair too and it went rock hard like chopsticks!) and it was quite a work (harder than you think watching those how to clips on youtube. They do make it look so easy!). One advice for you if you are planning to hand wallpaper - DON'T put paste on the wall. Always do it on the paper. Some videos say it's easier but it's a lie!  It made the paper very lumpy and creasy (unless we were doing wrong?).

Also this morning, I got an email from my lovely friend from Japan which made me very happy. She and her boyfriend got married in Kyoto (here!). Doesn't she look super gorgeous? I love the fact that we did it in a very traditional way. Congrats!

Have a great week everyone! Gumi

Yoga in the Park

Hi guys! What did you guys do this lovely sunny weekend? Me, Tom and Yoko went to London Fields to do some yoga this morning. Yes, yoga in the park! It was such a great way to start a lovely Sunday morning and also it felt so relaxing being outside in the sun! Yoko and Tom had done some yoga before but I am an absolute beginner and I wasn't quite sure if I'd enjoy it at the beginning. Because I am probably the most inflexible person in the world! I can't even touch my toes. (Can you?)

Anyway, the tutor, Pam was such a friendly and lovely lady and she made it very easy for me whilst the other guys were trying some advanced positions like headstand! (My jaw dropped when I saw one of the ladies doing it so easily right next to me!)

Here is Yoko doing it so well.

This is me trying to relax....

This is me doing my very best to stretch my legs!

I had enough yoga today. I am going home.

Cheeky Rioters

Hi people, hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. I am sure no one has forgotten about the riots which happened about a month ago. What happened was terrible and unforgivable. As a funny coincidence, shortly before everything happened I made little brooches of a boy and girl wearing balaclavas as a joke which consequently made people think of the rioters. I gave them to my sister-in-law as part of her birthday present and thankfully she liked it. She has told me that she has been getting some good response! So, this weekend I had another go at making more cheeky rioters...

These are the boy and girl in a balaclava that I made as a joke for her!

Here are the new ones I made today... Cheeky rioters.

They are very very cheeky.

People got mad at them and made them clear up!

All the London rioters should have been given a broom to clean up the mess they made!

Have a great and safe week everyone! Gumi x
